Elearning module “Ionizing radiation (radon)”

Les rayonnements ionisants (radon)

Description

Radioactivity is a natural phenomenon where certain unstable atoms emit ionizing radiation. This radiation can come from natural (such as uranium, radium, radon) or artificial (such as californium, americium) radioactive substances. They have the ability to ionize matter by removing electrons. Radionuclides generally emit several types of radiation simultaneously, such as alpha, beta, gamma, X-ray, or neutron radiation.

This module deals with ionizing radiation and more particularly that linked to Radon. You will discover the effects impacting your health and the different measures to adopt.

Targets

All employees can be exposed to Radon in their workplace. However, the sectors where employees are most exposed are:

  • Extractive industries (mining),
  • Construction,
  • Underground development,

Teaching methods

This module is structured by a deductive educational approach, moving from theory to practice. Theoretical content screens are based on an affirmative (top-down) methodology followed by a summative assessment in the form of QUIZ.

Content

  • What is radon?
  • Where is radon found in France?
  • Exposure to radon
  • Health effects
  • Ventilate and sanitize to prevent
  • Knowing where radon comes from to take action
  • Assessment (4 questions)

Training

Duration:
5 minutes
