At CES 2025, Sony unveiled XYN™, its new hardware and software platform designed to simplify the creation of 3D computer-generated imagery (CG). Aimed at professionals in film, video games, animation, and industrial design, XYN™ captures and accurately reproduces real-world objects, movements, and backgrounds to seamlessly integrate them into virtual environments.

This all-in-one solution features three key components:

  • XYN™ Motion Studio, a motion capture software compatible with 12 mocopi® sensors, integrating advanced algorithms to enhance motion interpolation and editing.
  • A spatial capture solution (currently still in prototype) that will allow photos taken with hybrid cameras to be transformed into photorealistic 3D models, simplifying the creation of assets for the metaverse, video games, and virtual production.
  • Finally, the XYN™ Headset (also in prototype form), which we mentioned last year. This immersive device with 4K OLED screens and a transparency mode is designed for the intuitive modeling of characters and 3D environments.

With XYN™, Sony aims to provide creators with a flexible and accessible workflow, reducing the costs and complexity of 3D production.
